Dr. Jones received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Theatre Arts Education from Michigan State University, a Master of Arts degree in Rhetoric and Public Address from Colorado State University and a PhD in Staff Development and Teacher Education from Colorado State University. Her research, publications and presentations cover a range of interest areas including reforms in science and mathematics pedagogy, distance education and telecommunications, gifted and talented education, and gender and multicultural studies.

Prior to her work at CSMATE, Dr. Jones was a member of the Teacher Education faculty within the School of Education at CSU, where she taught courses in general methods and evaluation of instruction, human relations, multicultural issues, reading and study skills in the content areas, teaching as a performing art and supervised student teachers. She was also an instructor in the Department of Speech Communication at CSU where she taught courses in speech and theatre arts. She was also a secondary Language Arts teacher for public schools in Michigan and Colorado.

Dr. Jones spent 30 years as an educator with her most recent area of specialization in pre-service teacher preparation and professional development. She was the key advisor for the Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences (BSNS) degree and worked with the College of Natural Sciences to develop the Master of Sciences in Natural Sciences Education (MS in NS) degree.

Dr. Jones collaborated on over twenty of CSMATE’s teacher preparation and enhancement programs, including the Rural Teacher Preparation Initiative; the Reforms in Science and Mathematics Education projects with Weld RE-1 teachers, the Center for Learning and Teaching in the West, and the Short Term Professional Development Program for Korean Secondary Level School Teachers.

Dr. Jones retired from Colorado State University in May 2010.
